I am sitting here playing tug of war with myself. I spent the whole day in jury duty and I am drained. I have not worked out yet and all I can think of is all the reasons why I should skip it and go to bed.
- My back hurts
- It’s raining
- I’m already in my PJ’s
- I’ve worked out four days this week, missing one won’t kill me
- I feel a headache coming on
- It’s the end of the week and all I want to do is kick my feet up and chill
- I don’t want to walk around the corner in the rain and I don’t want to lose my parking space
- I just ate (a salad – 2 hours ago) and I don’t want to work out on a full stomach
- The gym is probably crowded
- I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT!
Okay, now that that’s out of my system, perhaps I should consider a new list of all the reasons why I can and should get my rear in gear.
- I will feel 100% better
- It will help me to sleep
- It will keep me on track with meeting my weekly goal
- If I keep my commitment, this time next year I will be closer to my goal
- What have I got to lose? WEIGHT!
- I can’t come this far in the week and give up now
- I’ve got a race to run in two weeks, I need to train
- It’s going to feel good to be able to say I worked out six days this week when I do my weekly recap
- It will look good on my blog to say I did it – Hey whatever works right?
- My health is worth the effort
Okay, now that I’ve come up with a more motivating list to focus on, I am going to put my sweats on, grab my Ipod and drag my butt around the corner. I still don’t feel like it but that’s probably going to be the case more often than not. If I give into my feelings, I’ll be sitting here next year this time moaning and groaning about how fat I am, and I am determined not to let that be my story. So, whose with me?

Fabulous post Stacey! I love that you not only listed the 10 reasons you didn’t want to go for a walk/exercise but followed that up with 10 reasons it would be good for you if you did. You are an amazing woman. If more people were like you, imagine the things that would get done.

Hi Sherida! Thanks for stopping by It took all I had to get out the door, but I’m so glad I went. I felt amazing afterwards and now I have something to blog about LOL…Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. Take care!

You can do it!!! Your reasons for working out are definitely more powerful than the reasons not to. I have those days too – where I do not wanna move but even if you walk a mile it matters/counts. I sometimes do some push ups, squats, jumping jacks and burpees in my house too if I just wanna get something done quickly.
You can do it!!! Keep us posted.

Hey Tamala! You’re so right, no matter how much or how little you do, it all counts. That’s a great reminder. I’m telling you, some days are just not high energy days, and I respect that, but still try to do what I can. I’m going to put together some quick routines similar to yours, that I can do at home and on those days where time and energy are not on my side. Thanks for that suggestion. I will definitely keep you posted. See ya soon

Loved reading your two lists! I felt the exact same way today. I’m also planning to run a race in two weeks. I haven’t trained much, so I will see how I do. Good luck in your training and keep up the exercising! It does feel good when it’s done. I dragged my butt out on a run tonight, and am glad I did. It’s nice to know that someone else experiences the same as me!

Hi Sarah! Thanks for stopping by! I’m in the same boat. I haven’t done much training either. I will undoubtedly do more walking than running on race day, but I’m just glad to be back in the game. I’ll keep working at it to get myself back in running shape. Good luck to you as well. I’ll be cheering you on. Please let me know how it goes for you

This was me yesterday. I was face down on my bed and I dragged myself up and went on a run. I was glad I did.

Good for you Melly! Sometimes the hardest part is getting out of the door, but once we’re moving it feels good and it feels even better when it’s over (both physically and mentally). Glad I’m not alone on this one

Good job! Love your lists and I’m with you I am headed out to Kettlebell Class this morning. By the way I will be checking in with you regularly so when you need that push I will be here honking my horn!

Hey Kirsten!! You’re the second person this week who has mentioned Kettlebell classes. I think I need to look into taking one. I welcome the accountability. I’m telling you that’s what keeps me going on most days. I will do the same for you. We all need a little help from our friends. I’m grateful for the new connection! Toot Toot

Being a Mom working out always seems to allude me. My plan of action is generally to do a little something 3 to 4 days a week. Most weeks it happens, other times not. Thanks for the reminder to, #10 My health is worth the effort!! We deserve. Let’s keep pushin. – J. Daniels

Hi Jenelle! You’re health absolutely is worth it for both you and your family. Time can get away from us so fast. Three to four days a week is good. Be sure to give yourself credit for what you’re able to accomplish and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it done. There is always tomorrow. I’ll keep pushing if you will. We deserve it!!! Keep me posted, okay?
