I am amazed at how quickly my body has adapted to walking, and it’s only been 5 days! This is not my first rodeo with weight loss and exercise, but because I am approaching this leg of my journey with even tinier baby steps, I’m stunned by how quickly my body is rewarding me for my efforts.
This morning’s walk was easy peasy. I have picked up my pace and I don’t feel like I’m walking in quicksand anymore. I can’t help but take notice of the changes I feel both physically and mentally. I feel like the fog is lifting and there is an itty-bitty light at the tunnel and I am making my way towards it, one baby step at a time. I like this feeling and I’m going to do everything I can to hold onto it!
Before I started this round of walking, my back hurt of course. Not wanting to feel left out, the rest of my body felt like crud also. Stiff, creaky, achy. Totally not a fun vessel to live in day in and day out. There have been some days that I felt all 350lbs. that I lug around on my body, oops, I mean 341.2lbs. Yes, that’s right I’m down 8.8lbs as of this morning’s weigh in. #Winning
But now that I am moving with some regularity, and I’m 8.8lbs. lighter, my back is showing a slight improvement. I can’t do summersaults yet, but I don’t need a cane when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Not that I have one, but Lord knows I felt like I needed one. I’m not as stiff or achy or creaky, and I just feel better.
Check this out! I also sleep better. My body clings to the bed in a different way these past few days. Before I would linger in bed because my body felt sick. Now, I look forward to getting up each morning, to go do the thing that really awakens my body and starts my day off just right, and that is to go walking!
So I guess the moral of this little story is: Trash in equals trash out! When I treat my body badly, by neglecting to move it daily and feed it foods that are not good for me…I am going to feel like crud. But when I make better eating choices and when I move my body as best I can until I can do better, then I’m going to feel great (or at least better). Therefore, for me, activity rules the day, all day, every day! Hey, hey! Oh, and by the way…that picture above is my new “body-ability” goal!!! I will be able to get into that position before the end of the year!!

So Stacey, does that mean you’re into yoga as well as the walking?

Hey, Morgan, I’ve done some yoga, but not on a consistent basis. Over the next 100 days, I’m doing 12 mini-experiments as a part of my Project Me Experiment. In a few weeks I will be adding yoga to my wellness regimen and of course, will blog about it Do you do yoga? Do you have any tips for me?

Hi Dionne! I didn’t realize how quickly my body would respond to me jumping back into working out. I thought starting over would be really hard, but because my muscles are not strangers to working out, I’m bouncing back nicely. Thanks for stopping by!!
