Remember when you were in grade school and the teacher called out your name to confirm you were in class? Remember your response? Present! Here! Well that’s exactly what I am yelling out to let you know that yes I am still here! And yes I am still working on my 100 Day Wellness Project.
Present! Here!
Allow me to bring you up to speed.
Thursday I logged in 9,248 steps from doing hotel site visits of three hotels. Let me help you, the life of a meeting planner is not a glamourous one, but it is an active one! Unfortunately, being on my feet walking all day was challenging on my back. By the time I got into bed I was in some serious pain! Thank goodness for a nice firm mattress and a good night’s sleep.
Thursday was also a day of eating. Each hotel I visited fed me. Breakfast at the Sheraton, lunch at the Marriott and Dinner at the Hilton. Each meal was just as delicious as the last, but I am proud to say I made healthy choices, ate consciously and made sure to have small portions. I even left food on my plate. And guess what, it wasn’t a struggle to do so.
When I returned home on Friday, it was so hot! By the time I walked through my front door I was too hot and too exhausted to eat or walk. I went to bed and stayed there until the next morning.
Saturday for some reason was a low energy day for me. To be honest, I’m premenstral (I know, TMI), and I just didn’t have the energy to even lift a finger. So no walking and very little eating. Instead, I spent the day going back and forth from my bed to the couch, lounging around all day. And you know what? It felt wonderful! No guilt here. Part of my wellness program is learning to listen to my body, and on Saturday it told me to be still. So I did!
Yesterday, I went for my walk before church, and it felt good to be back to my normal routine. After church, I spent the afternoon with my mom who turned 77 yesterday. What a blessing? When I arrived home I baked a piece of salmon, tossed a salad and had a delicious dinner. I ended the evening curled up on the couch with a good book.
As much as I wanted to go walking this morning, the rain put a damper on that (pun intended). I am however, planning to log in some serious steps after work.
The moral of this story: Listen to your body. Sometimes the care it needs is to simply be still and rest. None of us can do much from an empty cup. Take time to rest, relax and rejuvenate before going full throttle again. My body is so glad I listened!
Tomorrow marks the twenty fifth day, and the last “regular blogging” day of my #100DayBlogChallenge. Starting on Wednesday, I will be blogging “live” via Facebook Live for twenty-five days. What I have decided to do is to continue sharing my journey here as well as sharing live on Facebook the ABC’s of a Successful Wellness Program. If you’d like to catch me live, you can do so here on my Facebook Page. I hope you’ll join me.
