I have said time and time again that I was going to burn my scale. Now while it does cause quite a stir, specifically when it moves in the wrong direction, it is still quite useful in keeping me on track. I’ve done the weekly weigh-ins, occasional weigh-ins and the daily weigh-ins, and I must say that when I’ve weighed in daily, I have been able to lose weight more consistently. Weighing in more often keeps me in check. If I see where my weight is creeping up I’m able to do a mid course correction before things get out of hand.
But because the scale is not the only form of measuring success, I’ve decided to put some other tracking systems in place so that I can work them all together for a better chance at consistent weight loss. So here’s my plan:
A Quarter-Day Review
On this journey I continue to have “good” days and “bad” days. But rather than looking at and labeling an entire day as a success or failure, I’m going to break my days into quarters. Why? Well, because quite honestly on those days that are “bad”, it really hasn’t been the whole day that was a wash. Nine times out of ten, I have kept it together up until dinner time, which is where I tend to go astray. So rather than deeming the whole day a bust, I will give myself credit for those portions of the day that I was able to stay on point.
Weekly Weigh In
Weekly weigh in’s are nothing new. In fact, as I announced a few weeks ago, I will be launching my weekly video series, “Weigh In Wednesday”, where I’ll be weighing in and sharing the verdict for the world to see. How’s that for accountability? The goal here is to document myself shrinking over the weeks to come and to be able to watch and have a visual of my progress from week to week.
Monthly Measurements
Lastly, I will measure myself every month. This is often overlooked. This will actually tell a more encouraging story, especially as I take it up a notch with the strength training. As I work on building muscles, my body will become more toned, tight and shapely. As I type this I’m getting excited. Looking forward to having more slack on the tape measurer from month to month.
