It’s Sunday night, and that means it’s time for me to set my intentions for the week ahead. I was talking to my sweetie earlier today and we got into a discussion about how critical ones mindset is to weight loss success. I found myself saying, “once I set my mind to do something, it’s done”. For instance when I decided to run five miles straight on my birthday last year..I did it. Or when I decided to be a Zumba Instructor…I did it. Or when I set my mind to lose a significant amount of weight…I did it.
So once again it’s time to set my mind on the journey ahead . Basically I am starting from scratch, but what makes this time different is that:
- I’ve done it before and I KNOW I can do it again.
- Fortunately, I’m not starting from 337 lbs. so it won’t be an ALL uphill battle again
- Although I’ve gained back some of my weight, I haven’t gained it all back AND my fitness level is much better than when I first started out
Establishing a morning routine that includes working out at the gym BEFORE work – I need an established routine in place. I cannot leave my workout regimen up to chance. I’ve chosen to workout in the morning because a) it will give me a chance to get my day started on a productive note b) I can get it done and out of the way before excuses threaten to postpone it, and c) I can rev up my metabolism early in the day so it will keep burning throughout the day.
Geting back to the weight I was when I ran my last 5K race last November, which was 269lbs. – This weight represented all the hard work I had put in up to that point and the reward of 71lbs. lost. My shape was starting to reemerge and I was feeling GREAT! I want to feel that again. I want to look that way again and I WILL!
Commit myself to blogging EVERYDAY for 100 days straight about my journey – First, let me say I am counting this post as day one of my 100 day challenge. I enjoy blogging, sharing and encouraging. Heck, I did it everyday for a year, so I know I can accomplish this goal. Besides, blogging keeps me focused and it holds me accountable. All the more reason for me to be diligent with this goal.

What weight loss/health and fitness goals do you have, and how are you going to go about attaining them?

Well my journey began again at the end of June and I have struggled to reach my first milestone which is 10 lbs. It seems as if it is taking me forever to get that first 10 off. Without the 2 set back weeks I might have been there by now. I am not letting them get me down but instead learned from them. What I learned is to be more aware when I am traveling and not to let the circumstances of life dictate what I put in my mouth. While the 2nd one is not yet a 100% I am getting so much better at it. Now I need to learn how to moderate my eating when I attend social events like cookouts etc.

Great attitude Ethel. There’s always a lesson to learn. I’m going to take a page from your book and work on not letting the circumstances of life dictate what I put in my mouth. I tell ya, if I can get this one under control, reaching my goal won’t seem soooo far away. Thanks for sharing!
