The other day I talked about owning our decisions. Today I want to talk about owning our accomplishments. Why is it so easy for us to blow off the strides we are making towards reaching our goals. It drives me to the moon to hear someone say, “I only lost a pound”, or “I was only able to run a mile”. Why do we minimize our accomplishments? Why can’t we own our forward movement? I believe we are so focused on the ultimate goal that we miss the treasure in getting there.
Today I want to encourage you and myself to OWN our accomplishments. We’ve worked hard for these things. None of this has come easy, so to blow it off as nothing is to do a major disservice to ourselves and our journey.
So, instead of blowing it off and minimizing your accomplishments….
1 – OWN every time you take a step towards reaching your goal regardless of how big or how small the step is.
2 – OWN every pound or ounce you lose. A quarter (.04) pound lost beats a quarter (.04) pound gained any day!
3 – OWN every time you push yourself to workout a little longer or move a little faster. That means you are getting better and stronger. That is the goal right?
4 – OWN every time you do it (workout) anyway, despite how you’re feeling. Doing it especially when you don’t feel like it deserves a big pat on the back.
5 – OWN every time you make the time to workout despite your busy schedule. That shows commitment and reinforces your determination to make yourself a priority.
6 – OWN every compliment you receive without getting a big head of course. It’s okay to allow others to pat you on the back for a job well done.
7 – OWN the new habits you are building or the fact that you have gotten rid of some bad ones.
8 – OWN the choice you made to eat the healthy meal you prepared instead of blowing it off for a less healthy option.
9 – OWN the choice you made to eat a cookie or cake or chips or whatever. It was the choice you made in a moment. One moment does not a lifetime make. Next time you will choose differently.
10 – OWN the fact that you are feeling better and have more energy to boot. That’s what it’s all about, right? Celebrate it!
