Guess what I dug out of my nightstand drawer? My Fitbit! That’s right, it’s on and popping now. I charged and synced it, and now it is back on my arm after a long hiatus. I must admit it was nice being able to track my walk today. I walked 1.45 miles in 33.58 minutes. Yay me! I am being very conservative in establishing my daily step goals. At some point, I want to aim for 10,000 steps, but for now, the goal is to walk 5,000 and I am just 763 steps away from goal. I would have surpassed it by now, but I didn’t put the Fitbit on until I left the house today around 2:00. But regardless of whether I track my steps or not, each one that I take still counts.
My back held up although I had to stop and stretch it at one point because I felt it tightening up. After I stretched everything was fine. I did more walking at the grocery store when I stopped to get everything I needed for my green smoothie cleanse which starts tomorrow!
Now that walking is something I’m committed to doing consistently, I’m ready to take on another “wellness project experiment”. Actually, three: the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse, journaling my prayers and doing another TV detox. Prayer is something I already do on a daily basis, but I want to approach it differently during this cleanse. I want to journal my prayers. I’m committing to journaling my prayers for one hour each morning. I think this is also a good time to turn the TV off as well to devote my mind, body, and attention to the Lord. As I’ve mentioned over the past few days, emotionally I’ve been leveled. And I need to feel the presence of the Lord and hear his voice loud and clear. By removing these distractions I can devote myself to cultivating a deeper relationship with Him.
The cleanse is also my attempt to purge toxins and waste from my body. It is not my intentions to continue the cleanse past 10 days, however, the discipline of praying will continue to be a part of my morning routine as it already has been. Not sure right now if I’ll turn the TV back on either. I honestly need to pull myself away from those things that don’t feed me spiritually and mentally. I think the TV may get the boot for the rest of the year. I’ll keep you posted on this one.
Wellness is so much more than just taking care of our bodies. If any or all of our being, be it physical, mental, spiritual, emotional are out of whack, we are out of whack. I believe we have to work at keeping a balance so that we don’t become lopsided in caring for ourselves. I have become lopsided, which is why I am embarking upon this journey. What about you?

Oh, my gosh Morgan! I am so glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, I have done the TV detox before. It was earlier this year. I did it for lent actually, and I’m telling you, it overhauled my life. There is nothing like slowing down and cutting out the distractions in your life. That’s why I’m doing it again. Stay tuned tomorrow. I will be sharing a FB Live video that I did back in March for my Weight No More Group. In it, I talk more about the TV Detox.

I love turning off the TV and wish my family would agree to it. As for the Green Detox I need to do one as well as I would like to lose over 70 pounds. As for Journal your Prayers I love that as it would hold me accountable. Which at this time I need.As for the Fitbit I have mine on every day and was doing 10,000 steps unless my knee wouldn’t let me. But I feel off the wagon and so I am working hard to get back on track so at this point I shoot for 10,000 steps and go up from there each week.

Yeah, turning the TV off when others are in the home is challenging, but I hope you can still etch out some quiet time for yourself. We are in the same boat in terms of the amount of weight we’d like to lose. I’m doing the smoothie cleanse to start fresh and to give myself a jumpstart on my weight loss. I would love to know if you decide to do one yourself. We all need accountability!!!Kudos to you for 10,000 steps. I fall off the wagon too, too many times to count. Let’s not give up on ourselves. Let’s commit to getting back on track as many times as we need to. I wish you well Glenda!
