Just a few short months ago we were celebrating the start of a new year.
Our excitement was high and our intentions were lofty. Our goals were set, our plans were made and we were ready to roll. And then wouldn’t you know it, life began continued to happen. January 1st turned into February 1st and then March 1st, and now here we are entering the 2nd quarter of the year and many of us are no closer to our goal than we were on December 31st.
But have no fear.
It’s a new day, it’s almost a new month and quarter and it doesn’t matter what we didn’t get done over the last few months. In fact I like to look at the first quarter of the year as a warm up. Hopefully we learned some things that will serve us better as we continue to keep our eyes on the prize and hanker down to make some things happen over the course of the next few months.
You know, when you stop to think about it:
- Time is going to pass whether we work on our goals or not. It would benefit us to focus on one day at a time and do what we can to make each day a successful outcome
- There is nothing magical about when you start. The magic comes from starting and continuing to do whatever you can to reach your goal.
- Life is not going to wait for any of us to get it together. We have to figure out how to make things happen in spite of the day to day minutiae that threatens to derail us.
- All of the planning, wishing, dreaming and praying in the world is not going to work unless you do something. No work, no results!
As we prepare for the next quarter of the year here are some things to focus on as you do your planning. Think in terms of:
New Vision – How do you see yourself winning? Where do you see yourself in 30 days, 6 months, 1 year from now?
New Vigor – How will you boost your energy? What will you eat? What activities will you engage in that will give you energy and make you feel alive?
New Vitality – How do you want to feel, physically and mentally? How can you raise the bar so that you are living the life and experiencing the things you want to experience?
New Victories – What new victories are awaiting you? How will you measure your success beyond the scale?
I’ve created some worksheets for you to jot down your answers to the questions above.
What is your plan? How will you execute the plan? Please take the time to download the worksheets above and work through your new vision for the next month and the next quarter of the year. Clarity leads to action. Use these worksheets to get clear about the direction you’re taking and then get to work!
