If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. Find something you enjoy doing and do it everyday. For me that thing was Zumba followed by running. In between doing those daily routines I would often try to find different activities that I could simply do for the fun and newness of it. Following are some of those activities, which I either tried or have on my list of things to try. Hopefully these give you some ideas of what activities you might want to consider doing for the sheer fun of it.
1 – Join a hiking group that gives organized hikes. I love hiking and would love to join a hiking group. I would particularly enjoy nature hikes.
2 – Participate in scavenger hunts. Philadelphia Runner hosts the Urban Scramble each year where participants have 1 hour to safely run or walk to up to 12 predetermined locations in order to receive raffle tickets for over a dozen prizes from local Philly businesses. Prizes are sourced from the local businesses along the course and range from gift cards for a cup of coffee to free adidas swag!
3 – Have fun at a Zumbathon. I hosted my own a couple of years ago and it was sooo much fun!I’m going to work my hardest to get back in shape so that I can do another one this year.
4 – Walk or run for a cause. I ran for Cancer, Lupus and Sickle Cell Disease. Participating in these races allowed me to move my body and bring awareness to the work that is being done to eradicate these diseases.
5 – Join a cycling group. This is something I’d like to do. Maybe this summer I’ll get the chance.
6 – Go bowling with friends. This is a great idea to get some friends together one Saturday afternoon or evening and have fun and get in a workout at the same time.
7 – Take a dance class. I’ve taken a dance class once and loved it. My ultimate goal is to learn ballroom dancing and participate in an amatuer dance competition.
8 – Participate in the Diva Dash. This is something I would absolutely LOVE to do. I think I would be laughing too hard to make it through but I would definitely have fun trying.
9 – Enjoy time in the water with Aqua Zumba. This is a must do for me. As soon as I find a class, it’s on!
