The Blizzard of 2016 is currently ranked the 9th highest snowfall thus far in Philadelphia. Right now we are at 17.7 inches and counting. With the anticipation of more snow, it’s safe for me to say that I will be stuck in the house for the next few days. The thought of this gives me a severe case of cabin fever. So, to ward off my antsiness, I have come up with a list of ten things to help me pass the time and also get in a workout or two.
– At some point I will make my way outside to shovel the pavement. The good news is that my neighbor has shoveled the steps and walkway. Also my sweetie will be heading over tomorrow to dig me out of my parking space. My plan is to help out a little and that will be my workout.
– I thought about taking a walk around the block…and then I thought again. Although that would be a serious cardio workout, I will stick to walking around to the back to get to my car. I anticipate having to basically march through the snow as it looks like it may come up to my knees. Oh the thought….
– I have my home gym already set up. I will be using my bosu ball, swiss balance ball, and resistance bands to get in a nice strength training workout.
– To keep myself distracted from eating, I certainly have enough work to keep me busy. This is the perfect opportunity to work on some projects that have been calling for my attention.
– While I thought about rearranging the furniture, I probably will just clean the house and put things back in their place.
– I am staying hydrated. I am on my 6th cup of water and I will reach my 8 cup goal.
– I’ve turned off the news because quite frankly the all day reporting makes me anxious and gives the feel that the world is coming to an end….UGGGG!
– Although I haven’t stepped outside yet, I have been to the door to get some fresh air and take in the beauty of it all. It’s something humbling about a big storm like this. Regardless of our lot in life, we’re all in the same boat when it comes to mother nature’s power and awesomeness.
– Today is the perfect day to simply chill and relax. I got that part down. In fact I just woke up about two hours ago
– And lastly, just taking time out to be thankful. All of my family and friends are safe and warm. We have food, shelter and heat and for that I am extremely thankful. It’s times like this that make you stop and truly count your blessings.
