I am so sorry to have kept you hanging. Yesterday after church, I had plans to come home to get on the computer. I really wanted to go for a walk (which I did) and take a nap (which I didn’t) before knocking out a blog post. Let’s just say, that’s not how my day panned out. It was actually better than I had planned!
Before I jump into yesterday, allow me to catch you up on Saturday’s cookout. As planned I went fully prepared to navigate all of the yummy food. When I pulled up I could smell the aroma of barbecue wafting from the grill. It was at that moment that I knew I was a goner. It seems that I was right on time to start partaking in the cuisine.
I grabbed a plate and dug in. Two barbecue ribs and a chicken wing were the first to grace my plate. Followed by a delicious quinoa salad and potato salad. There was also this yummy baked chicken that I couldn’t resist trying. Everything was out of this world! And not because I hadn’t eaten in eight days!
I ate everything on my plate and even went back for seconds. My plan to wear jeans with a belt worked because half way through my second plate, I couldn’t eat another other bite. The rest of the time I sat with the other guests laughing and engaging in really good conversation. I left the cookout about three hours later, tummy full and completely satisfied and not one ounce of guilt about not sticking to my cleanse!
Yesterday, I resumed the cleanse where I left off until my plans for the day took a pleasant turn. After returning from my walk, a friend and I took an hour drive to beautiful lake, where we had an impromptu picnic over looking the beautiful water and soaking up the sun. The weather was beautiful and the company was enjoyable.
Needless to say, by the time I returned home I wasn’t in the mood for writing anything, nor was I in the mood for a smoothie. So I showered and off to bed I went!
The moral of this story: Embarking upon a wellness journey does not mean sticking to self-imposed rigid rules just to say you did it! Wellness is also about enjoying yourself and life. Laughter is like medicine to the soul and believe me I had a full dose of it this weekend! And that my friends is the best wellness practice in the world.
