As much as I wanted to start my day off with a walk this morning, that just didn’t happen. My feet are taking a beating from my daily walks and my dogs were killing me. Once out of bed, I pulled myself together, stretched and off to Zumba I went. Let me just say this…we had an awesome class today. I was super excited to see some new faces and the energy in the room was off the chart. The only down fall was that we weren’t in our usual room and the area where we were was hot. But I’m proud of my gang…they did the darn thing.
Next, I had to do a quick change from Zumba Instructor to Party Planner. I went home, showered, changed and back out the door I went to look at a facility for an upcoming party I’m helping to plan. Since I’ve been back on track with my journey, I have been conscious about both what I eat and when. I try to keep my body fueled so I don’t run out of steam. Well today, I was too busy trying to get things done, that I skipped my “after Zumba” meal and that was a big mistake. I could feel myself getting a headache and I felt a little light headed. After my appointment, I had to break my “eat out of my own kitchen” rule and grab something eat. I opted for Chick-fil-A. Can I just tell you that I love their chicken strips? My little pit stop made me realize a few things:
1) My focus is Progression not Perfection. I ate what I ate because that’s what I wanted AND I enjoyed it. I’m not trying to be perfect and deprive myself. I’m focused on making small sustainable changes over time that will become a part of my lifestyle and not just a program to follow for a moment and then go back to my default only to find myself back where I started.
2) One Chick-fil-A combo meal did not get me to where I am AND one Chick-fil-A combo meal will not kill me. I ate that thing, guilt free and enjoyed every bite…everything in moderation is the key.
3) Lastly, the lemonade I ordered with the meal is STILL in the car. I used to LOVE their lemonade, but since I’ve been drinking only water (with the exception of a cup of coffee or orange juice in the morning) my taste buds are starting to change. I took one sip of that lemonade and got an instant head rush from the sugar. Fortunately I had my water with me and that’s what I drank with my meal.
When I got home it was all I could do to reach the couch. I set the clock to wake me up for my walk and off to sleep I went. Now you know once that clock went off, the last thing I wanted to do was go walking. My feet still hurt, my body was sore from Zumba and I was just plain tired. I was so ready to say nix it so I put out a plea for encouragement on Facebook and my friends did not disappoint. In fact the title of this post came from my girlfriend Janine. Thanks girl!
The first mile of the walk was rough. With each step I wrenched in pain, but mile two proved to be better in both my stride and my frame of mind. Of course I was so glad I went and of course I felt better too. My feet still hurt but that’s a barrier I am going to have to push through daily. I have decided to grin and bear it and push myself to complete my goal. I’m 12 days away from completing my 31 Day Walking Challenge. I will do it!

So glad you pushed through and made it out.
So much in this post is right on point. I have
found my taste buds changing as well as how
much I will eat. I remember when I would eat
all of the food in an order. Now I find myself
making multiple meals out of an order. Not
every time but more often than I did before
Have a great Sunday!

Ethel, you know it took ALL I had…LOL. Isn’t it amazing how our taste buds change? I get excited about making several meals out of one. Like you, that’s not always the case, but when I do it I definitely give myself credit

Yay! I’m glad. I hope you made it to the gym and I hope you had a great workout! I find that the best workouts are the ones I didn’t plan for and the ones I didn’t feel like doing
