It’s day 21 and I have already completed my walk…YAY! I love it when I can get it done early and not have to have it hanging over my head all day. Outside of my poor feet, I’ve noticed that the walks are getting easier. Even the hills are better. I hate the hills, just ask my friends Donna and Traci, and sweetie. They all know I’ll go out of my way to avoid the hills…LOL. But I’ve even noticed that I’m better able to navigate them now…I still hate them though.
As I shared yesterday, about my walk, the second mile was much better than the first. So much so that I found myself setting some milestone goals for myself. I decided three things:
1) I will run in the Broad Street Run next year (pray for me!)
2) I will complete my 1st half marathon next year AND
3) I will run a marathon in 2017 – the year I turn 50…that will be my present to myself!
Now, I realize I have A LOT of work to do, but I’m up for the challenge. My focus from this point forward will be to get stronger and to build up my endurance in preparation to run these races. I will be starting my strength training regimen next month and I will start the C25K program to re-condition my body to start running again. I have already decided that my theme and focus for August will be strength, just like this month’s theme has been consistency.
So there, it’s out there. My intentions have been made and I WILL accomplish these goals. Here’s the thing, although weight loss is the ultimate goal, it is not my focus. The weight will come off as long as I keep moving forward. But my focus has to be on accomplishing something other than losing the weight, which is why I will be choosing a different theme each month to commit to.
I’m excited, I’m scared but I’m also determined! My mind is made up and now that I put it out there, I gotta do it right?

What a remarkable blog and a wonderful goal for yourself. Setting the goals is most important, but even setting smaller goals within the larger one’s will give you even more of a boost. It can be done! Much encouragement from me to you!
