Today, as my lunchtime came and went without me stopping to eat, I found myself thinking, “I want something good to eat”. The hungrier I got, the more my mind started to fill with visions of buffalo wings, fried chicken, double bacon cheese burgers, chocolate muffins…all of my “comfort foods”
Here’s the thing about “comfort foods”, they leave me far from feeling comfortable. They sap my energy, they make me feel bloated and of course they pack on the pounds.
The good news here is that I very quickly came to my senses with the thought that, instead of thinking I want something good to eat, why not think, I want something good for me to eat. Meaning, I want something that is going to sustain my energy. Something that will satisfy me without leaving me feeling guilty or physically and mentally weighed down.
So, rather than giving into my “I want something good to eat” craving, I made my way to the market after work, picked up a few groceries and came home to whip up the delicious meal you see pictured here. I made a quick spring salad, with a boiled egg and I grilled a piece of salmon. All I have to say is YUM! And you know what, I feel fantastic.
Something good for me to eat beats something good to eat any day! I’m proud of myself for making the right choice

Stacey you are so right. I was doing my grocery
shopping and was so hungry (it is a no no to go
shopping hungry) but I stayed the course and
waited until I was home and had something good for me

Kudos to you Ethel! It really does boil down to our perspective and how we think about the journey. Every minute requires us to make a decision. It’s up to us to make the healthy one. I’m happy you did just that!
