Let me start off by saying it is 8:12 a.m. and my workout is DONE!! Let me also say this…I am super proud of myself for getting in three workouts this week…Zumba last night, my workout this morning and my virtual 5K on Tuesday. I’m feeling pretty accomplished…LOL…baby steps…it’s all about baby steps.
Tuesday evening as the rain pounded the streets and as I laid across the bed totally spent from my first day back to work, my mind kept telling me to go workout. My body of course had other plans and so the tug of war began. Go…no stay…get up…no lay down…you know you should…but I don’t feel like it. And then I had my ah ha moment. When are you EVER going to feel like it Stacey? Probably NEVER…and with that I got up, got dressed, and out the door I went.
Here’s the thing, if I waited until I “felt like it”, I would never go to work, I’d never get my car serviced, I’d never get out of bed, I’d never pay my bills, I’d never wash my clothes, I’d never cook, etc. etc. etc. You get the picture. Exercising is no different. It all requires mental fortitude, self-discipline, and a wherewithall to get it done!
And so I’m happy to say my mind won out over my body this morning. In spite of severe allergies, in spite of back pain, in spite of my stiff and achy body…I got up, I got out and I got it DONE!!!
