I’m feeling pretty good this morning. These last few weeks have been pretty rough for me. But today is the first day that I don’t feel so burdened. I guess because today is the first day in two weeks that I’ve been able to carve out some “me” time. I tell you, it is exhausting taking care of others. Don’t get me wrong, I count it a blessing to be able (in mind, spirit and physical body) to help and serve my loved ones, but Lord have mercy the toll it’s taking on me is palpable. I don’t think my family realizes I’m not getting any younger…LOL.
Outside of Zumba twice a week and running around doing this, that and the other, I have not been able to get in a workout. The good news is that that streak ended this morning when I took my butt to the gym and got in a couple of miles on the treadmill. It felt good and I feel better.
While working out, my mind started to clear itself of the cobwebs and I realized that this whole idea about making a lifestyle change is all encompassing. It’s not just about eating healthy and exercising regularly. It’s so much more. It’s also about taking care of myself in ways that might not be so obvious, but definitely reek havoc if not tended to.
As I walked up a sweat this morning, I was able to identify six areas of my life that needed a complete overhaul. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that if I can get these areas in order, I will experience success on my journey. My lifestyle make-over will include:
- Getting My Proper Rest
- Hydrating My Body
- Drinking My Fruits and Veggies
- Clearing The Clutter
- Eliminating Distractions and
- Setting Some Boundaries
Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well it’s not! Just like diet and exercise, these areas require time, effort and planning in order to reorder my life. But I’m up for the challenge. Are you?
