It’s been a hair raising week :-/ |
Thank God it’s Friday, and it got here just in time. I thought this was going to be a low stress week for me, but that was not the case at all. As much as I would like to say that I managed my stress without straying from my plan, that simply was not the case.
On Tuesday AND Wednesday, I gave into to the double D – yes that’s right, I went to Dunkin Donuts, and had…yes you guessed it…a boston cream donut both days. Then yesterday, I found myself out of control trying to eat everything that wasn’t nailed down. But here’s the good news. It’s like they say in Weight Watchers, you can go off the plan at 10:00 and get right back on at 10:01, meaning you don’t have to keep spiraling out of control. Fortunately, I was able to come back to my senses by 2:00 p.m. before things got completely out of hand.
So what’s the take away? I have to find a better way to handle my stress, but what? I’ve thought about it and came up with a few solutions:

I Can Pray! – God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in a time of trouble – Psalm 46:1 (when I am out of control, I’m definitely in trouble and thats when I need to turn to Him)
- I Can Work Out – Who says that I have to relegate my workouts to once a day?
- I Can Take A Walk – This always calms me down and clears my head
- I Can Stay Out Of The Kitchen – Especially when I find myself going to the refrigerator 3 times in an hour thinking I’m going to find something new – that’s a sure sign that I am out of control
- I Can Do Something I Enjoy Doing – such as read, write, blog…something positive to distract myself
- I Can Call A Friend To Talk Me Down Off The Ledge. I just have to be sure it’s not a friend who would be willing to jump with me…LOL
The point is, I cannot let the stressors of life continue to send me into an eating frenzy. I have to have a clear exit strategy the next time I find myself losing control…oh cause trust me, there will be a next time
