Oh my goodness it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL today. I can’t believe it was close to 70 degrees in January, but I loved it! I decided to take advantage of this beautiful weather by running outside, and I was able to run 1.5 miles. Yay Me! I have to admit I prefer running on the treadmill. It’s just easier for me (and besides I can hold on when I feel tired :-), however I want to do more running outside so my body can adjust to it and I also need to prepare for my 5K race. So I’m praying for more days like today so I can get it in.
I’m learning how to dress for my outdoor runs. Last week I had on too many close. I totally overheated about 15 minutes into the run and from there I fizzled out pretty quickly. I did not make that mistake today so I was not distracted by my intense body heat.
As I started my run, this older gentleman was walking towards me. As we smiled at each other he gave me some words of encouragement. The first time I passed by him he told me to just take it one step at a time. The second time he told me to keep going, and even when I don’t want to, remind myself that I have to. How sweet? With that I was actually able to pick up my pace a little bit because I was inspired by his kind words. God knows exactly what you need and when you need it. Thank you Lord for sending that man to encourage me to keep going.
