You know it’s funny how you can tell the people who are just starting out on their fitness journey. Not so much by their bodies but in their actions. At the gym this morning, this lady caught my attention. She was working out on the stairmaster (which she is a better person than me for being able to do so). She looked like she could bearly make it. Not only was she struggling on the machine, but she was also over dressed. I know the look all to well, because that was once ME! Anywho, when she finished on the stairmaster, she got on the eliptical machine next to me. I was running at the time (by the way I did 2 miles today!). I heard her say something to me. I took off my earplugs to hear what she was saying. As she huffed and puffed, she said, “I’m trying to keep up with you”, meaning me. I smiled at her and told her to take her time and ease into it. During my cool down, I struck up a conversation with her (which I never do), but I found out that she was just starting out (just as I’d figured). I feel blessed because I was able to minister to her and encourage her to run her own race and again to ease into a routine. I told her that the key was to be consistent and to take her time. She was very appreciative and I left feeling good not only because I had a great workout, but because I was able to pay it forward. I’m loving what God is doing in me, and through me.
