Just as “Orange Is The New Black“, October is the New January in my world. Next to it being my 2nd favorite month (2nd to February, my birthday month of course), it is also symbolic of a time of transition. It’s when:
- The air changes from hot & humid to crisp & cool
- The leaves change from vibrant green to beautiful shades of red, yellow and of course orange
- Our mindsets change focus from leisurely thoughts to “time to get down to business”
And for me, it’s a time to not only work towards finishing the year strong by working hard to reach my goals, but also a time to start planning for the upcoming year.
With today being the first day of October, the start of a new month, and the start of the last quarter of the year, what better time is there to do some reflecting and forward planning? Rather than waiting for January 1st, I’m getting a jump start on setting my intentions for 2016.
To help me map out my health & fitness goals, I am going to take time this weekend to reflect upon and answer the following questions:
What is one area of progress you’d like to see this year for maintaining or improving your physical health?
What are some tangible, daily choices you can add to your life that with improve your health?
In what ways would you like to be physically healthier by December 2016?
What is your plan this month for starting this progress towards a healthier you?
Wow, just typing these out conjures up feelings of excitement and anticipation for what the new year will bring.
I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to end 2015 on sure footing, ready, fully prepared and already in motion for reaching my health and fitness goals in 2016. If you’d like to do some planning yourself, click the button below to download a copy of my “annual physical review” worksheet.
