Just a few weeks ago if you didn’t look at the calendar to know it was December, you might have thought it was Spring time here in the Northeast. We were looking at temperatures in the high 70’s and it was feeling quiet balmy around these parts.
Oh well, I guess all good things must come to an end and it appears as though the end is here for us. It is cold as the dickens (not quite sure what the dickens is, but let’s just say it’s coooold). With the cold temperatures eventually there is snow, and it looks like we will be having our first snow storm this coming weekend.
Now, I don’t know about where you are but around these parts the mere mention of snow sends people flying to the supermarket to stock up on everything that isn’t nailed down. Bread, milk, eggs and butter are usually the first to go.
I used to be in that panic button number. For me I would head straight to the snack aisle, but not this time. This time I have a different plan. Fortunately I have everything I need to make it through the storm so I don’t need to go anywhere near the supermarket.
I have enough to keep me busy that I don’t need to spend idle time eating and grazing.
I haven’t been bringing junk and unhealthy foods into the house, and I see no reason to start doing it now.
I’ve gotten to the point where some nice roasted brussel sprouts hit the spot so who needs potato chips?
The point is, I’ve gotten myself to the point where situational eating is not so much a problem for me anymore. Where this used to be a trigger for me, I’m happy to say it no longer is an issue!
