It is with a mixed bag of emotions that I said good bye to my Zumba class this morming. If you’ve followed my blog with any regularity then you know I’ve been struggling with back pain for over a year now. That, combined with the more recent issues with my knee and heel has caused me to have to make a very difficult decision. I’m stepping down from teaching for awhile but wish this didn’t have to be the case.
The impact of bouncing, twisting and turning has only intensified my problem. Therefore I’ve decided to use wisdom and take the “weight off”. I hope this is not a permanent situation but rather a way to give my body some relief and time to heal.
Now, just because I can’t get my Zumba on doesn’t mean I’ll be living a sedentary life…oh no indeed! For now I will stick to low impact exercises (walking, cycling and getting in the pool). That’s my plan and I think once I shed some pounds I should be able to return to normal and normal to me is shaking a tail feather on the Zumba floor.
I’m going to miss these people to pieces. We’ve formed a family. We have fun when we come together and they are people who I look forward to seeing each week.
The good news is that I feel 110% confident in leaving them with Julius, Renee (not pictured) and Cynthia. These three are the best back up instructors in the world!
So now I’m off to get myself together. I’m going to follow the advice given to me today, which was pretty simple. Establish a plan, work the plan and be patient!
Although it saddens me to say goodbye I am looking forward to getting some relief and releasing this weight so that I can return with vengeance. In the words of the terminator…I’ll be back….
