Yesterday, while out running my errands, I found myself on cloud nine. I hadn’t planned on a trip to my happy place, but before I knew it, I was drawn inside and unable to break away. This most hypnotic place is the bookstore of course, which is one of my absolute favorite places to be in all the world. I can spend hours on end just taking in the smell, turning the pages and browsing through the many titles. Once inside it’s hard to leave and close to impossible to leave without making a purchase. Yesterday was no exception as I couldn’t make up my mind which book to buy, so I brought five.
I’m serious about saying hello to the things I want more of in my life this year and so when I saw these five books, I had to have them as I know they will support and give guidance on how to reach my goals.
I’m super excited about trying out the recipes in my “Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook”. As I’ve shared, one of my goals is to make this the year of my best body, and I realize that that will start in the kitchen. I’m planning to try most if not all of the 500 recipes, and blog about how they turn out. My body and my taste buds will appreciate this purchase for sure!
I’m planning to take more risks this year and step out of my comfort zone to work on some dreams that have being laying dormant. I purchased “Rising Strong”, by Brene’ Brown to help me pump up my bravery muscles and to learn how to get back up when the circumstances of life knock me down. Hey a girl can never be too prepared right?
As I shared in this post, this is the year of no excuses for me, so when Brian Tracy’s, “No Excuses: The Power of Self-Discipline”, knocked me in the head as I was entering the store, it was a no brainer that this was the one book, if no other, that had to come home with me.
I love anything that John C. Maxwell writes and because another one of my goals is to be more intentional this year and to not live my life haphazardly, I couldn’t walk out of the store without, “Intentional Living: Choosing a Life That Matters”, being in my bag. I honestly cannot wait to dive into this book!
Now this last title, I struggled with buying, not because I didn’t want it, but because I already have it. Yes, you read that right. I already have “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. I have the electronic version on my iPad. But as a true book connoisseur, sometimes you want to hold an actual book, smell it, turn down the corners, highlight key passages, put a post-it on the pages you want to revisit. This is definitely that type of book. It’s a must hold, must smell, must mark up kind of book…so I brought it home to do just that.
And besides, it’s also the basis on which I have created my webinar, The Power of One For Weight Loss Success, which I will be hosting this month on the 19th at 7:00 pm (EST). I’m excited about the information I will be sharing as I know it will help you to get started on your journey and to reach your desired weight loss goals.
If you haven’t registered, you can do so here. It’s free, so what have you got to lose? Nothing but the weight you so desperately want to shed. Please join me, on Tuesday, January 19th at 7:00 pm (EST) for The Power of ONE For Weight Loss Success, one hour webinar. You’ll be so glad you did!!

My book I’m starting off with is The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I also have a small group to study and discuss the book with. I absolutely LOVE your post, and I definitely will be coming back and I will pick up a few of your book choices as well. I’m on a self improvement journey, and I need all the help I can get lol. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Hi Chantale! Thanks so much for stopping by! The Purpose Driven Life is a great book! I need to read it again. I’m sure your study group will be blessed by the book and wonderful things will come out of your time together. I’m pleased you enjoyed to post and I’m ecstatic that you will be returning to read more! You’ll have to let me know which book(s) you were able to read and how they helped you to grow. I will definitely be sharing my take-a-ways as I read through mine. Many blessings to you and hope to see you soon!

I know exactly what you mean about sometimes needing real books rather than ebooks (or audiobooks) I have several that I have a physical copy of as well as the audio or e version. And I think I’m going off ebooks in a way.

Hi Emma! Thanks so much for your comment! I’m glad to see I’m not alone in my love for books…the ones you can smell, turn down the corners and highlight your favorite passages. I like the instant gratification of downloading a book and being able to carry all of my books with me at one time on my iPad, but honestly electronic versions will never take the place of the real thing. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you again!

Hi Tia! Thanks for stopping by. Nice to meet a fellow reader. I have a “to read” list too and these are just for starters. I would love to read a book a month, but not sure if that’s going to happen. Happy reading to you and hope to see you again!

I’m planning on reading five new books this year. I checked out You Are a BadA$$ and the new book by Mindy. I love reading inspirational books so I will be reading more of them this year.

Hi Starkey! Inspirational books are my favorites too. I like your plan to read five new books this year. That is a much more doable plan than my over zealous plan to read 12. I’m going to check out the book you mentioned. Sounds like a must read. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to see you again
