The adrenaline is just starting to wear off. Oh my goodness, I cannot express the high that I am on from having had the opportunity to participate in the “Dezzie B.I.G. Girl Workout” event today. I taught a 30 minute session of Zumba at the event and the ladies LOVED it! They got it in and to see them moving and enjoying it…there’s no better feeling.
I can’t thank Dezzie enough for giving me the opportunity to share my passion for Zumba with her and the ladies who where in attendance. I want to also thank Keturah Duncan for reaching out to me and making it happen and finally but certainly not least, I want to thank Mom G for being my “PR” person and getting my name out there.
I know I keep saying this, but it’s because I still can’t believe all the goodness that keeps coming my way simply because I decided to take charge of my life…but if someone had told me a year ago that I would be doing ANY of this, I would have laughed hysterically and thought they were crazy.
It is such a blessing to be a part of a movement, and that’s exactly what this is. So many of us who have been struggling with our weight for sooooo long are now working harder and more consistently to reclaim our health. From my BGR sister friends, to what my friend Karen Harcum is doing through her radio program “My Body Is Temple”, and now through this…”Dezzie B.I.G. Girl Workout”, sistah’s are doing it for themselves. I am so glad to be a part of the movement. Not just as a participant, but as a model/example to help motivate and inspire others. I’m so filled up because when I think about how my life has changed and knowing what is to come for others who are committed to making lifestyle changes, I just can’t help but to lift my hands in praise.
With each new opportunity, I regain new focus. The best is still yet to come. I don’t know what’s next, but I do know that through it all God is preparing me for a good work. I’m thankful. I’m humbled. I’m ready to take this thing to the next level, not just for myself, but for all those who are traveling this road with me. It’s about connection and community, because we each need each other to help us reach our destination. I’m committed to doing my part and I hope you are too!
