Today I want to celebrate my body. Being overweight over half my life, I’ve grown accustomed to berating my body and trying to hide it, which really isn’t possible you know, I mean seriously? But today I want to celebrate it, and thank God for every part because in spite of all the damage I’ve done to it, He’s allowing it to still function.
I want to start with my feet. As an overweight person, one of the last thing you notice, or think about are your feet (probably because you can’t remember the last time you saw them). But as I put lotion on mine this morning, I thought about how strong they are. Day in and day out they hold up all of this and still manage to take me where I need to go. Feet, I celebrate you today – thank you!
My waist, ahh yes, one of the smallest things on me (next to my ears of course). You’re so flexible, and I appreciate the way you still define my “hour glass” figure AND allow me to do my twisting movements in Zumba Waist, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Hands, let’s not forget you. You’re quite elegant you know. With your long fingers you should have been a piano player but there’s still time! Hands, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Shoulders, as strong as you are, you’re still very comfortable. You’re good to cry on, and comfortable enough for babies to sleep on. Shoulder’s you got it going on…I celebrate you today – thank you!
Hips, you’re curved just right and you know there’s power in these things! Need I say more? Hips, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Knees, although a little creaky, you’re very resilient. You guys have taken a lickin and still keep kickin. I’m proud of you because you’re getting stronger and you don’t give me much trouble anymore. Knees, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Gluteus Maximus aka Booty…you have never lost your shape…still perfectly round AND you allow me to have my own “personal cushion”…LOL! I wish I could take credit for you, but you come as a courtesy from Mom J Thanks Mom! Booty, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Legs, all 34 inches of you from hip to ankle. You’re long, strong and sturdy, almost regal like. You hold me up and take me places. Legs, I celebrate you today – thank you!
Back, although you’ve given me some problems, you’ve managed to continue to be my support, so today I celebrate you – thank you!
And let’s not forget you stomach. I like the way you’re coming down, keep up the good work! You’ve always been the vein of my existence. Although you give me a little grief, I celebrate you because you are my center, you are my core! Thank you!
My body, with all of its curves, bumps, and extra padding is an amazing machine. Created by God and celebrated by me. Above all else, my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in me, whom I have received of God, and starting today I’m going to continue to celebrate it. No more putting it down. No more being ashamed of it. No more trying to hide it!
Much Love

Love it!! This made me laugh. So necessary to celebrate our bodies. We must embrace what we have and see the beauty. Brava to you for doing just that.
