When I decide to take a trip, the “planner” in me springs into action and I begin to map out all the details. Where I’m going, how I’m going to get there, what I’ll take with me and all the fun I’ll have when I arrive. Embarking upon a weight loss journey requires the same type of planning and the rewards upon reaching your destination are just as exciting, if not more so. Here are just a few things to think about and plan for for your destination: Weight Loss.
Chose Your Destination
Where would you like to go? What destination will make you the happiest? Is it a certain number you’d like to see on the scale? Are your trying to fit into a pair of jeans you haven’t been able to wear in a couple of years? Perhaps you’d just like to feel better, stronger and have more energy to do the things in life you’d like to do, without carrying around excess weight. Whatever your destination, make a firm decision that that’s where you’d like to go and then set out on your journey with it as your focal point.
Determine Your Starting Point
Timing is everything! If you find yourself in a situation where you are having to deal with stressful situations such as financial burdens, relational problems, on the job stress or other major life events, it’s probably not a good idea for you to set out on your journey until these distractions have been addressed. When would be the best time for you to get started? Only you can make that decision.
Plan For Detours
Life is so daily! The landscape of your life will not always be perfect. There will be unexpected circumstance that will pop up on the regular, all designed to throw you off track. What’s your plan for overcoming these obstacles, detours and challenges? As I always say, the best plan is Plan B…be sure you have one!
Keep It Moving
This is my personal motto. No matter what comes, or goes you have to resolve within yourself to keep it movin. Everyday make a commitment to yourself to start fresh. If yesterday was a bust, so what! Today is a new day and another opportunity to do what you know to do to make the magic happen. As the song says, Keep On Movin, Don’t Stop!
