How I wish I had stuck to this practice today! My week has been so hectic, I didn’t have time to cook yesterday in order to have lunch or dinner for tonight. I’ve had to deal with a crashed server at work, a funeral, an epidural shot in my back and 3 major deadlines today and a meeting. Can we say stressed out!? Because my meeting wasn’t until late this evening, today was the first day this week I’ve been able to be at my desk for the whole day. That’s good in one respect and bad in another. I was so consumed with work that by the time I looked up it was 3:30, and I hadn’t had a thing to eat since breakfast. I hadn’t even taken the time to drink my water. Bad Stacey!
At this point, my head is starting to feel funny and I know I need to eat, but what? I didn’t plan well at all. Nothing from home and quite honestly, I didn’t even think about a salad. Because I was up against multiple deadlines, I went to my stressed default and headed out for something fast…aka…fast food…aka…Wendy’s. Can I tell you that after eating it I felt absolutely HORRIBLE! It was bad enough that I was eating it but even worse that I inhaled it in an attempt to get back to my work. Those two things combined gave me a serious case of heartburn and I haven’t had anything else since 3:30….NOT GOOD!
Moral of the story:
- Plan better
- If I must grab something quick…grab a salad
- Don’t eat fast and definitely don’t eat fast food fast
- Eat foods that love me back. Sadly, I knew before I ate it how it was going to leave me feeling
I’d be in the same boat tomorrow except I have a plan. I didn’t get a chance to cook tonight because honestly, I’m just too tired. BUT I will be getting up early in the morning to cook and prepare my lunch from my own kitchen so that I’m not facing the same thing tomorrow.
