In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking to yourself. In fact I do it all the time and so do you. The question is, what is it that you’re saying to yourself and how is it affecting your progress? I know for me, often times my internal dialog is harsh and critical. Is it me, or are we our own worst enemies? I also know that when I am gentler and more encouraging to myself, the results I’m seeking in my life actually show up.
Last Monday I talked about habits. This week I want to talk about how to reinforce those new habits by using daily affirmations to change your thinking. Whether we realize it or not our thought life plays a pivotal role in our daily actions or in-actions. Whatever we say to ourselves on a consistent basis our subconscious mind goes to work to bring that thought into fruition. That’s why it is so important to not only watch what you say to others but also to watch what you say to yourself.
As a man thinketh so is he – Proverbs 23:7
Writing down some affirmations and reading them daily is a powerful tool in changing the way we think and ultimately the way we act. Subconsciously we believe and work to make true the things we say to ourselves, so why not be purposeful in feeding our minds to produce the type of results we are looking for in our lives?
Here are a few of my daily affirmations:
- Everyday in every way I am getting stronger and faster
- My body feels alive when I exercise
- Eating healthy keeps me energized and fit
- I am happy, healthy and focused
- I am fit, fabulous and free
The more I say these things to myself the more I believe them AND everything that is within me goes to work to make them my reality. Here are a few tips to get you started on writing your own affirmations.
- Be sure to state affirmations in the present tense: “My body is a lean mean workout machine”
- State affirmations in the positive rather than the negative: “I am healthy” vs. “I am not sick”
- When you say your affirmations, say them with emotion, intent and conviction
- Write them down so you can refer to them often
- Choose affirmations that help you create the right “mental environment”
- Choose affirmations that highlight the habit you want to establish
We all have that default mode, I know I do. Practicing daily affirmations will realign your thinking so that you are thinking more about, and acting on what you want in your life vs. what you don’t want AND affirmations will set your subconscious mind on the right path to bring those things your want into fruition.

Stacey thanks for the blog visitor. I really liked
what she has to say about body type especially
since I have always wanted to be tall and lean.
I need to except I will always be a curvey girl 😀
As for affirmations mine is that “I can do this thing.”
Keep it coming!
