Day 33 – Zumba at Home
Day 32 – Please Stop Saying That!
Anyone who is overweight or has ever been overweight will know what I’m talking about. So here we go. Today’s reason has to do with an innocent comment that I often hear. “You have such a pretty face”. Uggggg, I hate it when people say this to me!!!! Don’t get me wrong, they’re ABSOLUTELY right! I am pretty, beautiful, gorgeous, etc. etc. (no modesty here LOL), but for an overweight person, that comment albeit meant to be a compliment, is a slap in the face. Allow me to translate for you what I hear every time this is said to me, “You’re fat, but at least you’re not ugly”. Gee, thanks.

Day 29 – Feeling Good Feels Good!
During a doctor’s visit a few years back, after re-evaluating my medications for asthma, my doctor told me that I should start to feel better. I had been feeling sluggish and tired, and lacked any form of energy. Because my lungs were all clogged up (my description not hers) I wasn’t getting enough oxygen, hence the reason for my lack of energy. During that visit she said something to me that I have never forgotten. She said, “You don’t know how bad you’re feeling until you start to feel better”. That was an Aha moment for me. It was so true. Once I started taking the new medication and was able to breath without effort, I felt so much better. The sad part is that feeling bad had become normal to me…SMH… I had become so used to feeling bad that I hadn’t even consider the possibility of feeling better. Oh but I’m singing a different tune these days. As a result of exercising, I’m feeling even more better (I know that’s poor grammar, but it’s the best way I can explain how I’m feeling).
- I have 100% more energy
- I’m not as stiff in the mornings
- I sleep better (more restful)
- My back doesn’t bother me as much
- My cramps are not as bad as they used to be
- My right side no longer goes numb when I lie on it
- My knees don’t hurt as bad when I walk up the steps
- I no longer get winded when I walk up the steps
- I don’t feel heavy or bloated after eating (WHEN I make healthy food choices)
- I don’t feel like I’m being stuffed into my clothing
- I have more confidence in myself and in my abilities to do things I didn’t think I could do
- I’m living my life unafraid and unashamed
- I actually look forward to working out (at least most days)
- I’m able to buckle my seat belt without having to hoist my hip in the air (LOL, it’s the little things we take for granted)
- I’m able to play with my neices and tire them out before they tire me out 😉
